WHO WE ARE:
Reclaiming Our Youth – R.O.Y. was
founded in 2007 by Wini Jackson, who is both the Director and
Coordinator. She has been an advocate in service to children for more
than 48 years. Wini Jackson has won numerous awards, commendations and
recognitions for her work and service to children from various
organizations. This would also include recognition from officials at
Los Angeles City and County government, the representatives of
California’s State Assembly, as well as from California Congresswoman
Janice Hahn. On June 20, 2011, she received the Prestigious Jefferson
Award for Public Service to children. The Jefferson Award was created
by First Lady: Jacqueline Kennedy Onassis.
R.O.Y. :
Reclaiming Our Youth is a 501(c)3 non-profit registered with the
Internal Revenue Services, the State of California and the office of
the State Attorney General of California.
MISSION
STATEMENT: Reclaiming Our Youth, (whose acronym
is: R.O.Y.) is to provide as many services to children as
possible that are life-enriching; services that will broaden and
increase their gamut of learning, as well as heighten their sense of
awareness of the world around them. R.O.Y. ‘s mission is to work for
children whose grade levels range from elementary school all the way
through college and into young adulthood.
R.O.Y.
encourages them to find and utilize their own individual gifts and
talents effectively, impacting the world around them.
R.O.Y. has
coordinated efforts that have been used to help children in crisis as
well as children/students from all walks of life. This includes
children that are in regular schools, the foster care system, children
living in group homes or those considered at risk of entering the
juvenile justice system. R.O.Y. reaches children in underserved areas,
children with disabilities, in fact, all children in need who
currently live in Southern California and it also provides outreach to
children in other nations. |
